When the original story was written Peter van Zyl was 14 years old. He was in Grade 7 in Austerville Primary School in Durban, KwaZulu Natal. His hobbies were playing soccer and hockey. He loved reading.The book tells the story of the mean and vicious Grover Dogs, who rode motorbikes. But they had a surprise coming their way when George the Cat came to their celebration party.

The Sheep family are big snobs as can be seen by their names, Lord and Lady Sheep. Lord Sheep looks down on the goat family because they are poor. The goat family know how to have fun even if it means getting dirty. Lord Sheep lets his daughter, Lady Lamb, play with the kids on condition that she doesn't get dirty. But when you are having fun dirt seems to happen.

This story introduces Mother Goat's city relatives. Her sister, Sandy Goat, is bringing her children to visit their cousins. The city kids are sophisticated and turn their noses up at any fun activities that the farm kids and Lady Lamb propose. Eventually, however, their resistance is worn down and they surprisingly have such a good time that they are reluctant to leave.

As Miraculous matures he discovers that a lot can be achieved if we practice empathy.The Forest fairies in the third story help the forest animals to prepare for winter by banding together to help one another. They are shown that one’s weakness can be sorted out by another’s strength.
